Shane wouldn't have cared if the girls tickled people, but because it was in his pitch during the games and there were multiple complaints, the professor had no choice but to do something. Ah well, he was almost positive the two girls would find some other strange thing to do to keep themselves occupied.
He nodded as she agreed to his terms and changed the subject."So what's your favorite class?" he asked, knowing full well it wasn't his class. The Hufflepuff hadn't taken his class, so how was she to know if she could enjoyed it or not?

Ali blinked up at the professor as she thought. “Charms!” she admitted pleasantly after thinking it through. Sure Professor Cyncad was rather … ahh … strict, but Ali liked her for whatever strange reason. She could never get her name right, though; that got upsetting after a while, but was always shrugged off.
Gasping as she remembered something she’d overheard wandering the halls one day, Alizabeth looked up at Shane once more, wide blue eyes questioning. “How big is the ‘Big Apple’?” she asked, shifting her weight and swaying her head back and forth slightly. She had a song stuck in her head, you see. “Oh! And what type is it??? Is it a red one or one of those icky sour green granny ones? ” She’d heard a professor in the hall talking about how Shane was from New York, and New York was constantly referred to as “The Big Apple.” Leave it to Ali to think that there was actually a huge apple in New York, not that the city was called “The Big Apple” for whatever reason.[/blockquote]

Shane was surprised at the girl's answer to his question. He wasn't expecting her to pick one of the strictest classes as her favorite. He'd heard so many of his own students complaining about Professor Cyncad. It caught him off guard to find that Ali actually liked hers the best. "I thought mine was your favorite," he pouted. He honestly didn't care either way, after all, she wasn't actually in his class.
Shane was getting used to the girl's random subject changes, which wasn't actually a good thing in his eyes. Still, her reference to the 'Big Apple' caught him off guard. How did she know he was from the New York? "How did you..." he started, but then the young Hufflepuff cut him off with her second question. He couldn't help but smile lightly. The girl was definitely.... interesting. He wasn't all that surprised to find her thinking the 'Big Apple' was actually an apple. Looking into the girl's questioning blue eyes, he smiled. "New York is a city, not an apple, and it's one of the largest cities in the world," he stating, his tone friendly, almost as if he was talking to a young child.

Many thought Ali crazy for choosing Charms as her favorite class. But she couldn’t help it; she’d never seen Gwyneth’s strict personality as something to be afraid of. No, she seemed to just roll with the whole thing. Alizabeth’s blue eyes widened when Shane pouted, voicing that he thought her favorite class would be his own. “Nono!” she spoke, shaking her head and smiling brightly. “Charms is my favorite class that I have. Your class is my favorite over all,” she pointed out as if it were obvious.
Ali was looking around her when Shane started to ask how she’d found out about where he was from, so obviously she hadn’t been paying enough attention to understand the half-finished question. Her head whipped back around to face him as he started to explain about New York, grabbing the girl’s attention once more. She tilted her head to once side, confused, as he started talking about a city as opposed to the huge apple she was expecting. “I don’t want to know about New York, silly!” Ali pointed out, wide-eyed and confused. “I wanna know about the Big Apple!” No, Alizabeth had no clue that New York City and The Big Apple were one and the same.

Shane watched Ali's eyes widen as he mocked a pout. Smiling as he rolled his eyes at the girl's comment, fortunately his sunglasses hid it from the Hufflepuff in front of him. He honestly couldn't care less if the girl liked his class or not, after all, she wasn't in it. He still couldn't figure out why he was her favorite teacher.
The Hufflepuff girl never seemed to stop amazing the professor. How she had managed to find out about him growing up in New York was beyond him. The confused expression on Ali's face as he tried explaining about the city caught him off guard. He began to wonder why such a look had appeared on her face when she managed to answer his unspoken question. He should have known she'd think the Big Apple was actually an apple. Pausing, trying to think of how to manage his words for the hyper-active girl to understand, he couldn't help the small smile on his face. "New York is the Big Apple," he said, a bit of a chuckle evident in his voice.
