Jon hurried out of Gryffindor Tower, not wanting anyone to see him. In his arms he held a dozen red roses and the seventeen year old was in a hurry. He had told Melrose to meet him in the empty classroom at exactly seven-thirty and it was already seven twenty. Yay for Jon's ability to time manage.
He arrived, slightly out of breath from sprinting the entire way. But he had arrived. His outfit was simple, but he hadnt yet had time to change since classes and he figured Mel would forgive him.
Jon put the roses on a table in the center of the room, using magic to sweep the rest of the chairs and desks to the sides of the room. Then he pulled out a bag of Hershey's Kisses, his favorite muggle american candy and arranged them into the following words:
Mel, Hallow's Eve Ball? - Jon
Ah yes, our dumb jock can be cute. He scooped up the roses, not ready for her to see them yet and headed for the darkest corner of the room to wait for her arrival.

Ah, what a day. After leaving Jon in the forest—as much as she hated to—Melrose had promptly not gone to classes and made her way to London. She’d almost forgotten the photo shoot her mother had scheduled for that day, but that never mattered. Mel could leave five minutes before she was supposed to be at the studio and she would still be early. If there was one thing Melrose loved about magic, it was the fact that she didn’t have to ride around in a car for hours on end if she didn’t want to.
Anyway, the Gryffindor girl wore a navy strapless dress over a grey turtleneck—the sleeves bunched up to just above her elbows—and grey leggings. On her feet were ankle-high lace-up boots, something more she’d picked up from the shoot that morning. Yes, free stuff rocked. Her wavy hair had been dyed a light brown and pulled back into a pony-tail at the base of her neck—an attempt to keep it from “poof”ing as it had been styled to do. Her eyes were made up more than usual, making her hazel eyes stick out in almost a Vogue manner.
She pushed open the door to the classroom Jon had specified, tilting her head slightly when he wasn’t there. Wait, he’d said ‘exactly’ seven-thirty … right? Well … it was seven thirty; she’d checked. Mel placed her hands on her hips and looked around for him. She wasn’t mad or annoyed or anything, more like confused. Of course, as she surveyed the room, a silver sparkle caught her eye. Smiling softly as she made her way to the table in the center of the classroom, she—figuratively—melted as she read the words.
She smiled pleasantly, looking around the room once more, knowing he had to be here somewhere… [[ ick … >.> not as good as it was supposed to be, but… ]]

At exactly seven thirty, the door opened and in walked Dumbledore Melrose. He stifled a laugh at the confused expression on her face and remained hidden where he was. After he saw that she had read his little "note" he stepped out of the shadows, holding the roses. So? Do I get an answer? HE asked, a playful grin on his face.
He stepped closer to Mel, still awaiting her answer. Even though he was pretty sure it would be a yes. Unless she was going with the OTHER boyfriends. Mmm... not likely.

Melrose grinned when Jon walked forward, moving to stand closer to him. She took the roses from him, holding them in her arm and touching the petals of one gently. “They’re beautiful,” Melrose cooed, grinning up at Jon and kissing him sweetly.
She smirked softly when Jon asked for an answer, tilting her chin upward just slightly. “Hmm..” Her hazel eyes sparkled slightly as she joked and pretended to think about her answer. “That would be a ‘yes.’” she answered finally, kissing him once more.
