overall::
Jessica Manarch’s heritage lies in quite a number of places; though she’s mostly English and other things of that sort, somewhere along the line, Jess is also Hispanic. These deep roots give her skin that tanned tone that she—quite honestly—doesn’t have to work for. Her skin is fairly flawless, save for the occasional scar here and there. Acne as a teen wasn’t completely awful for Jess, but that doesn’t mean she wasn’t spared completely. Nonetheless, the Hispanic tone of her skin is often envied by other girls, simply for the fact that the build of Jessica’s body doesn’t follow that Hispanic gene, leaving her skin tone to appear as, well, a tan. Jess is thin and tall, long and lean if you will. Her muscles are toned to the point of where you can see them under her skin, but she’s not so muscular that her strength is bordering on that of a body builder’s.
Jessica’s face is oval in shape. Her jaw line is fairly defined, the bone tapering into a small, proportionate chin. She has a high forehead, and her face is fairly symmetrical. Jess’s lips are pink and full, revealing ideal white teeth when she smiles. As well, small dimples form at the sides of her chin when she smiles, something that can give away when she’s truly happy or just faking it. Her nose is small, yet slightly out of proportion with her face, being just a smidge big and shorter than what a computer would deem “perfect.”
Jessica’s hair is naturally a dark mocha brown, a pleasant rich color that didn’t last much through her teen years. UV-rays and hair dye have turned this girl’s locks a multitude of colors at various times. It’s gone from its original color to a light blonde, to auburn, back to dark brown, to--well, you get the point. A few years ago, Jessica decided to dye her hair more of a medium brown, and has kept it that tone since. Now, there are a few more highlights and lowlights in the strands, but all in all, it’s the same color. Jessica’s hair is thick and wavy, reaching down to her middle back when wavy or curled, near her lower back when straightened. It’s layered all around, shorter pieces framing her face, but constantly styled to wave out and back.
Above Jess’s eyes are two thin and shaped brown eyebrows, the particular features shaped into a slight arch. Her eyes are spaced evenly on her face, and are almond in shape. Jessica’s eyes are brown, a color that commonly makes one’s eyes appear more flat than giving off the same depth as blue eyes. However, if one were to look closely at this girl’s eyes, a certain depth can be seen. The edge of her iris is quite darker than the inside, appearing almost as dark as the pupil at the center of her eye. Inside this border of sorts lies the rich dark brown that makes up her eye color, the lighter portion nearing the “border” and darkening into more of a starburst closer to the pupil. Of course, to realize this, one would have to get awfully close to the girl, but … incase you were wondering.
Jessica’s clothing style is quite simply casual, but comfortable. She doesn’t wander around all day in sweatpants and a t-shirt, but she’s known to do so when she’s home alone. As for being out in public, Jess will wear just about anything. From shorts to skirts to pants, cami’s to fitted t’s to blouses—Jessica can appear quite the fashion guru. Sure, she’s not one of those girls who won’t wear anything that’s not designer, but that doesn’t mean what she wears doesn’t look good. Just because it costs more doesn’t always mean it’s better, right? Jessica tends to opt for a more bohemian style, wearing more earthy colors, from oranges and reds to browns and greens, as opposed to flashy pinks and golds. Accessories are something that Jess loves as well, almost always choosing thick necklaces over thin ones, and wearing more than one or two bracelets; even when it comes to earrings, she’ll select bigger, flashier ones over small studs. Her belly-button ring, tends to be smaller, a line of rhinestones or something of that sort. Jessica’s make-up is something she doesn’t care to over-do. Everything she puts on from eye shadow to lip-gloss doesn’t do much more than keep up a natural look. All in all? Jessica will put on whatever she wants and feels looks “pretty,” no matter if it’s out of style or not what others would prefer. She has a habit of not caring about how others view her style, feeling if she thinks it looks good it does.

Jessica Manarch is ultimately a free spirited girl in love with life in general. She’s easy-going and loves to just laugh and have fun. Though she can appear quieter at first, Jess is quick to be herself and doesn’t seem to mind what other people think so long as she’s having fun. She’s amazingly friendly and doesn’t hesitate to introduce herself to someone new, making her friend list easily long. Jessica doesn’t hesitate to speak her mind, instead letting just about every pleasant thought out for the world—or at least those beside of her—to hear. A smile is quite often on the girl’s face, and her musical laughter comes easily—her widespread sense of humor mixing with her need to please the one who made a joke.
The outdoors is something Jessica can never seem to get enough of. Even through her school years, Jess would wander outside every chance she got. She’s always had a knack with plants, as if every seedling she touches blossoms and grows unlike before. Of course, that’s not entirely true, but that doesn’t mean that gardening isn’t one of her favorite hobbies. If it were possible, Jess would gladly spend her entire life outdoors, bonding with animals and building some sort of garden. Her love for nature in general has clearly affected just about every other aspect of the girl, building her bohemian style and influencing her ideals on the environment and other such things. Her kindness only blossoms more when she comes into contact with an animal, and she hasn’t the heart to kill anything, from flies to the spiders she fears. She’s even known to do whatever possible to save an animal’s life, from scooping bugs up in a tissue and letting them outside to slamming the breaks on a vehicle to run out and pick a turtle off of the highway.
Jessica loves to exercise, something she picked up quickly due to her love of the outdoors. She makes sure to keep her body toned, jogging each morning to do so. Keeping fit makes her feel healthy, and much better than if she didn’t exercise. She can’t understand why some people are so lazy as to never bother to spend time outside, let alone not working out. Jess knows for a fact that she’s better off keeping in shape than those people who sit inside all day, and quite frankly she can’t understand why others don’t see that. Nonetheless, she can get up fairly early in the morning to jog, something her body has gotten used to after a while.
Jessica is kind and sweet; she feels a need to do whatever she can to aid others, and has gotten to the point of not even needing to try to seem such a way. Along with not being able to hurt a fly, Jess hates to refuse to do favors for her friends. She barely ever says “no.” But at the same time, Jessica honestly doesn’t mind helping out others. She’s wonderful when dealing with young children, her kind-hearted personality easily trusting in younger kids’ eyes. She has an uncanny ability to communicate with anyone, no matter their age, though quite a few people have taken her inability to refuse for granted, using her personality to their advantage.
Jessica has trust issues, but not in the way one may think. It’s not that she doesn’t trust others, but that she trusts too easily. She doesn’t quite believe that one can be truly evil or have bad intentions, and instead believes that everyone should be given a chance to be believed in. Feeling this way has proved to do Jess wrong in the past, leaving her with confusion and uncertainty. But she never fails to get back up and express that idea once more. This is quite the weakness for Jessica, making her almost naïve in some aspects; the weakness is even more so due to her refusal to change what she believes in. All in all, Jess has a good heart, and feels she has no reason to judge others or believe that their hearts aren’t good as well. She’s a pure, free-spirited girl who chooses to be utterly loyal and cheerful no matter what she’s doing.

Jared and Theresa Manarch were a happy couple even before they got married. The two hardworking wizards had met one fateful day in the US Ministry. They were argumentative at first; everything the other said annoyed one even more. It wasn’t until three hours of opposing views later that they realized how much they had in common. They fell in love after dating for a few years, married and moved to a quaint suburb in Florida. Theresa became pregnant at the age of twenty-three, a pleasant surprise for the two. Their home was just large enough for a small family, and they spent the next nine months fixing it up for their new arrival. The baby girl’s nursery was painted and decorated with loving care, the rest of the house made safe for such a young person. The two waited in anticipation the ninth month of the pregnancy, until finally the day came.
The day was bright and sunny; Theresa was leaning comfortably against the wall of the house, directing Jared who was seated in the flower bed. The rest of that pristine May day was a rush of doctors, nurses, and pain for Theresa, and before the night was over the two were finally blessed with a healthy baby girl. Jessica Claire Manarch, they’d decided upon as soon as they laid eyes upon her face. Young Jessica lived a happy childhood, filled with attention and joy due to her parents’ wishes not to have another child. No, Jared and Theresa agreed that they wanted a small family, and their precious Jessica was enough of a handful at times. Theresa’s job as an author gave her the ability to stay home and take care of her daughter, leaving no concerns of day care or baby sitting to bother the couple. Instead, Theresa would seat herself in the yard somewhere, laptop or notebook in hand, and allow young Jessica to run around. Jess clearly enjoyed the outdoors, exclaiming “Mommy! Mommy!” whenever she discovered another animal and constantly picked flowers to bring inside or to give to Jared when he returned home from the Ministry.
When she turned eleven, Jessica began attending a local wizarding school. Her time there was well-spent, the girl easily excelling in Herbology and Care of Magical Creatures. Her grades were average in other classes, and Jess was in absolutely no danger of failing. She paid attention and did her homework, rushing out to the grounds to play or explore as soon as she was finished. She was a sweet girl, beloved by her teachers. Jessica made quite a number of friends, somehow finding the time to spend with each one of them. She would quickly agree to helping others with homework, potions, and essays—something that a few of her peers took advantage of. She grew into a kind young woman, leaving her school after her seventh year with not an idea of what she would do in life. Jessica stayed a few more years with her parents until her twenty-second birthday. She’d been working in a magical plant shop, saving up money for something she’d decided on the spur of the moment to do.
She moved to Europe. The goodbyes to her parents were hard and heart-felt, but Jessica knew there was something out there for her to do. She’d always wanted to visit England, and had finally raised enough money to not only accomplish that dream, but to live in the country as well. Jessica landed in London, hailing down a cab and beginning her search for a place to stay. She left the muggle car at the Leaky Cauldron, and entered the hidden wizard pub, bags behind her. Though the brashness of the tavern shocked her at first, the kind innkeeper offered her a room, something Jessica certainly could not turn down knowing Diagon Alley was just beyond those bleak, grey walls.
Perhaps it was fate that sent her into that shop later that evening. After settling her things in her new apartment, Jessica wandered back down to the bar, asking the innkeeper how to make her way to Diagon Alley. The man smiled at the young lady and led her to the wall of bricks in the back alley, pointing out which brick to tap in order to reveal the archway into the wizarding street. Smiling her thanks, Jessica entered the new area, brown eyes flicking in awe from store to store. The cobblestone street was so quaint, with all of the brick shops and men and women rushing around. Passing by what appeared to be a pet shop, a particularly exuberant Scops owl caught her eye. She looked up at the sign hanging above the door. Eeylops Owl Emporium, she read, giving a kind smile to the little owl that had drawn her there before entering the shop.
She wandered through the small store, smiling at the various animals before a man caught her eye. She smiled brightly at him, he smiled back, and they spoke. He made her laugh and the rest was, as they say, history—love at first sight. In one deft motion Michael Christopher Ashmore had stolen Jessica’s heart. As the two got to know one another more and more, they began dating. After they dated, they got engaged. After they got engaged, they began to plan the wedding. In short, it was a storybook ending; the two were perfect for each other from every angle. They’d been together for a full three years when it happened. Her newfound life and love had placed a blissful bounce in Jessica’s walk. She and Michael planned to get married the following summer, the date was set and things were running smoothly.
They were preparing for a trip to the United States when it happened. Jessica and Michael were about to pay a visit with her parents, so Jessica and Theresa could discuss what had been planned for the marriage so far and things of that sort. Michael was working and Jessica was headed to Gringotts; she was going to take out a sum of money for the trip and suddenly the perfect ending was wrapped up in tragedy. The coins she’d withdrawn were in a bag in her purse, and she was leaving the building, unaware of the robbery that was suddenly taking place until she entered the lobby. The cloaked men’s warnings to stand still—not to move—went in one ear and out the other as Jessica caught sight of a poor young boy, wrought with fright and crying fully. He’d lost track of his mother, unable to find her in the chaos.
Jessica had always had a weak spot for children, and her heart melted at the poor boy’s dilemma. The robbers were nothing in her mind as she rushed forward, kneeling before the young child. Pure concern and understanding pulled at her facial expression; shouted warnings and commands from the evil men passed through the air, but Jessica didn’t listen. Her brown eyes welled up with tears as she lifted a thumb to brush away the young boy’s own. Whether the tears were caused by the pain of watching such a frightened boy or because she somehow knew what was going to happen next would never be known. She began to consol the child, asking his name and his mother’s. How old was he; did he have any pets? The boy’s wails had reduced to sniffles at her words, but then … but then.
Avada Kedavra. Such terrible words that many never imagine leaving their own mouths. The words used to kill another; to end one’s life utterly and efficiently, coldly and wickedly. The chaotic room went silent as the curse was fired by one of the more authoritative robbers, taking over what he’d commanded another to do. The man who hadn’t been able to end such a kind girl’s life threw himself at his colleague’s outstretched arm, sending the curse off target just slightly. The green light flew, bouncing off the shinned floor but reflected, still, to its target. Jessica fell lifeless to the floor, the boy she’d been attending to wide-eyed with disbelief.
Aurors arrived on the scene seconds thereafter, apprehending the thieves easily with the goblin’s help. The group of men never stood a chance. Finding Jessica’s lifeless body on the floor, the Ministry workers took names. Who had killed her; how had it happened; why did they kill her? The questions were asked of every witness in the room, many of which recognized her as the sweet girl engaged to the man working at the Owl Emporium. The Aurors confiscated Jessica’s bag, taking it as evidence. They called St. Mungo’s, having her rushed there upon understanding that the curse had been reflected onto her, and found Michael’s information from her wallet.
The days went by slowly after it all was over. Jessica lying lifeless in a bed at Mungo’s, Michael’s disbelief that something of this magnitude had happened, it was all tragic, all directed by horrible, horrible fate. The Mediwitches were doing what they could to find out if the curse had killed her or simply shocked her into a sleep-like state. Michael, through denial and pure heartbreak, gave up just days after finding out Jessica’s fate, and moved away without a moment’s notice; taking up a new job where he wouldn’t be reminded of what he’d undeservingly lost, day after day. Weeks later, the healers made their diagnosis, and Jessica awoke. She was weak and weary, kept in the hospital under a watchful eye until she made a full recovery … or, an almost full recovery.
Jessica’s memory was flawed; she could remember her schooling, her name, simple things like that. Faces of friends and family and relatives she could see in her mind’s eye, but never could she connect one of them with a name. It was as if she were starting over anew—tragically anew. The healers came to her later that day, expressing their apologies, but they couldn’t contact any relatives. Jessica stared at them blankly, not remembering any of her own acquaintances herself. She spent the next few weeks recovering, workers doing what they could to spark her memory, but nothing seemed to work. Eventually she was let out of the hospital, the few contents of her purse that weren’t lost through the shuffle and hubbub returned to her; her apartment key and the bag of money she’d apparently withdrawn—she couldn’t remember.
A feeling of overwhelming loneliness overtook the girl’s soul, and she turned back to the receptionist before she left, asking for a job at the hospital. Jessica became a nurse at St. Mungo’s, creating new friends and practically starting her life over. Details of memories she used to value so much are now fuzzy and indecipherable, snippets coming back to her at the most random of times. More time passed and she started to get into the swing of things again, getting used to working at the hospital. Her smiling face was a highlight in many patients’ days, and she would often volunteer her time to talk to or read to those who were in a coma, much as she had been.
One day, not too long ago, Jessica was walking to the Leaky Cauldron from the muggle side, when she noticed a young pocket beagle puppy huddled in an alleyway. She befriended the small dog, leading it to the tavern where she bought it a small slice of meat. The two of them became practically inseparable, and Jessica named the dog Lucy. However normal her life has gotten to become, every now and then Jessica can’t help but feel she’s missing something more than expected. She can’t recall her best friends, her parents, or the person her heart seems to ache for in flashbacks and dreams. She’s living unbeknownst to even her parents, who believe her to be dead and gone, just as Michael does.

roleplay sample::Schuyler giggled softly, shifting so her bum and the soles of her feet rested on the ground, her knees pointing up toward the blue sky. Her dirty blonde hair danced about her in a slight breeze, her blue eyes shining softly with the smile her lips held. She set her charcoal pencil on the grass beside of her, freeing her right hand to tuck a lock of hair behind her ear and out of her face. She picked up the pencil once more, grinning off at the family of ducks she’d been watching that morning—watching and sketching, that is. The one duckling seemed quite a troublemaker, curiously wandering away from his ruffled mother at the oddest times. The black and white sketch of the young bird on Schuyler’s page was coming to life—slowly but surely. The drawn duck even contained a smidgen of the actual’s peculiarity, something that would no doubt increase as she finished the image.
The quiet girl wore a ruffled knee-length white skirt and a white baby-doll cami, the latter decorated with swirls of pink and orange. Her wavy golden blonde hair was loose, hanging down to the middle of her back. Beige flip-flops sat near her, leaving the girl barefoot and completing the outfit just as the pink and orange beaded necklace that hung at her chest did. It wasn’t that early in the morning, the time ranging from between nine and eleven. Schuyler had lost track of all of that quite some time ago. She had a tendency to get wrapped up in her drawings, and the duckling she’d been following with her eyes for the past ten minutes was entertaining as hell, so that didn’t help much either.
She looked out at the calm lake once more, smiling softly at the serenity of the whole area. Schuyler wasn’t much of a talkative person; she didn’t go out in search of companionship, but rather let others find her. It wasn’t that she didn’t like the company of others; rather that she wasn’t one to start conversation. Letting out an amused sigh, Schuyler watched the duckling scamper around the edge of the pond as if on a journey before plunging into the murky shallow waters at the edge of the body of water. Shaking her head, Schuyler set to work on her picture again, looking up only once more when she heard the sound of another person approaching. She turned her head to take in the figure, expression blank as she strained to see if she recognized this new person.
