Jaedyn wasn’t one of those people who despised street performers. No, no—if anything, performing in such ways was something he did. He wasn’t from a particularly rich family, and he wasn’t one of those kids who whined until he got whatever it was he wanted. No, Jaedyn earned his own money—something that matched his modest personality quite nicely. Every once in a while, he’d get booked for a school event, or in a small bar or restaurant in Hogsmeade; but more often than not, Jaedyn made the most money sitting against a building and strumming on his guitar. Some people’s donations were more generous than others’, and it was a nice way to get feedback. The Gryffindor boy would often test out new songs on the streets of Hogsmeade; in a strange way, he trusted strangers’ opinions more than his friends’. People he didn’t know on a personal level wouldn’t feel as obliged to like every lyric that sang from his throat.
“Sometimes you don't know; Just what you got; Until you lose it; I learned a lesson, I guess; I'll never forget.”
Jayd’s beloved guitar was nestled on his thighs, his fingers strumming on the strings as only a practiced guitarists’ would. His somewhat raspy voice carried the lyrics to the people meandering the streets of Hogsmeade quite confidently, something one of his closer friends would likely not believe. Jaedyn could become quite shy when it came to his music, but he was slowly breaking out of his shell—slowly getting used to the compliments that used to cause him quite a bit of discomfort. His modest persona was accepting the fact that he had pure talent in his hobby, and though he could get somewhat quieter when receiving mass amounts of praise, he wasn’t nearly as bad as he had been years before. Each song was something he’d come up with on his own—children of the ragged composition book he constantly scribbled in during classes. Very few had actually read the messy scrawl he’d written on those pages, but a vast amount of witnesses to his creations would easily acknowledge the boy’s brilliance.
“Oh, they say that everything; Will happen for a reason; I can't remember my own; For letting you go; Oh, do you see right through me? Whoa-oh I really hope you do.”
Jaedyn had always had a way with words. That combined with his talent and love for music inspired many emotion-filled songs, such as the one he was performing just now. His blue eyes were shut softly, hidden under his messy mop of golden blonde hair. So involved was he in the song he was singing, Jayd would only raise his gaze to cast a thankful smile to those passers-by who would toss a few coins in his open guitar case. He shifted slightly, re-adjusting how he was leaning against the outer brick wall of a store. He wore a dark blue band t-shirt over a white long-sleeve one, his jean-clad legs stretched out before him. They made almost a ‘4’ shape as his right foot rested near his left knee. His head bobbed slightly to the beat of his song, the movement barely noticeable. A smile pulled at one edge of his mouth as he neared the end of what he’d written, singing the chorus a mere two more times before ending it all on his guitar.
“I can't look at you; Without thinking; What did I do? And I can't look at you; Without thinking; What did I do?”
He lifted a hand to brush at the fringe of hair that fell past his forehead, running his fingers through it in a useless attempt to force it back, out of his face. Jaedyn sighed, content, as he sat up, collecting the money he’d made from his case before moving to put his instrument away. He paid little attention to those around him, being more focused on the task at hand. He snapped the latches briskly, standing up to tuck the handful of coins into his jeans’ pocket before finally looking up, examining the semi-busy cobblestone street. Now, what to do with the rest of his time in the village, Jaedyn had yet to decide.

It was not unlikely for lovely Evelyn to be strolling the streets of Hogsmeade. It was rather common in actuality. The cobblestone beneath her feet and the sun lighting up her face, she was a pretty little figurine in this world. The wind that rustled her hair also was the wind that summoned the music to her ears. It was faint, guitar sounding, she had always been partial to music; thus, it was in her best interest that she waded through the people towards the music. In her mind she felt something calling her to that spot, yet she never lost sight of what she should be doing. And her vibrant eyes began scoping the streets again, anyone of her interest walking around? No luck thus far. With a sigh escaping through the girls pale pink lips, she decided to round the bend and find this little music maker.
Upon rounding the corner her blue eyes spied something, more or less someone. An old man was sparing a few coins into his guitar case, and then he was wandering off, not really appreciating what the boy was playing. Evelyn shook her head a bit, she enjoyed music. It wasn't her niche but she had always enjoyed and respected the people who played it. The most musical thing she could do was sing, but more often than not she would not even do that. Rumor had it that her voice was rather lovely when she sang, and she believed it too. Why shouldn't it be? Her voice was musical enough when she was merely speaking, it seemed almost a shame that she was not more musical.
Carefully she picked her way towards the boy, watching him all the while. In a sense she hardly blinked, this card was not sliding through her fingers so easily. The Gryffindor girl felt compelled to give at least a few bits of change to the boy, but as she drew closer he became more recognizable. The sixth year raked through her mind in an attempt to figure out who he was, the boy certainly was in her house, but not her year? It was a bit of a confusing topic for her at the moment, a shocker how many new people she was meeting recently. She didn't mind though, it had kept her on her toes and a bit more interested in things, especially since the majority of them were males.
Confidence was soaring within the whorish girl as she made her way carefully over to the boy. Her short ruffly black skirt flitted around her legs while her red sweater hugged her upper body. She looked rather lovely today, and not as whorish as usual. Her black heels clicked across the cobblestone as sauntered toward the male, her vibrant eyes alert and prepared. A few coins were jingling in the bag that she held over her shoulder, these would soon be in the boys guitar case. In her attempts to cross over the road to get to him, she was flooded with a large crowd of adults and their children. Quite angry with their rudeness in the way they acted she did not mind that she shoved one of them out of the way to get across, only to see the boy closing up his guitar case. Alas, he was through.
Somehow she managed to get to him with a smile on her face, her hair loose and wavy around her cheeks. She felt slightly exasperated that it had caused her so much just to get over here, and then the boy was finished. Upon reaching him she stopped and offered him a smile, "Hello," she said with a slight grin. It was upsetting that she had not been able to speak with him before he closed up his guitar and was apparently ready to find something else to do. Perhaps, she could help though with the something else. "I heard you playing, when I was down aways," her grin grew wider and her sing-songy voice danced before him. "You're very good." She averted her blue eyes away from his for a moment, as if to strike the look of innocence upon her.

Jaedyn’s blue eyes focused on the girl—a familiar face—as his ears caught her voice. “Hey,” he greeted, meeting her smile with one of his own. Jayd couldn’t place her face, but he could have sworn he had seen the girl around before. The more he thought about it, he concluded that she must be a housemate of his; he’d seen her in the common room before, he was sure of it. He smiled timidly as she commented on his music, lifting a hand to rub at the back of his neck. “Yeah? Thanks,” he spoke, the smallest touches of a flush playing at his ears. It wasn’t that he was embarrassed; it was a reaction he tended to have at any sort of compliment. Though this time, the flushed may have been caused more by whom the praise came from.
No, Jaedyn couldn’t help but notice how striking the girl that was standing before him was. And while he watched her gaze flick away from him, he struggled to find something to say. Jayd wasn’t the most comfortable around girls, though he had aspects that seemed to draw quite a few to him. “I’m Jaedyn Westerfield.” He stuck with a simple introduction rather than having to debate on something else to say. Jaedyn would open up like a book once he got to know someone—become the typical outgoing guy—but until then … well, he could be a bit more soft spoken.

The girl looked back up at him and smiled a bit wider, "Only the truth," she said with a wink. Her eyes scanned over him rather quickly, she was becoming interested in this boy. He surely was a housemate of hers, she swore she had seen him in the common room more than once. Why had she never said anything to him? Probably due to the fact that she seemed to always be rushing about to go do something else. That usually was the reason she overlooked people, nonetheless it shocked her that she had overlooked a boy as attractive as he. 'What are you coming to, Evelyn?' her thoughts floated gracefully through her head for a moment before she pulled herself back to the conversation.
So that was this boy's name, Jaedyn Westerfield. Now that she had heard the name it rang a bell, many bells actually. Her smile widened and she took a step closer to the boy. Personal space was something that Eve didn't need, and she was willing to sacrifice his until he showed slight discomfort. By this point she was easily within an arm's distance, her vibrant blue eyes locked onto his, and from here she continued on with her introduction. It was like taking turns, one would introduce and then question, and the other would respond and probably question too. It was a silly little game that seemed to be played every time people met someone new. Eve played her game a little bit differently, she was the one who ran these shows, and the girl was not afraid to say it either.
"And I'm Evelyn Conway," she said in a flirtatious mannerism, "It's a pleasure to formerly meet you, Jaedyn." Her grin widened into a seductive smirk, and her eyes broke away from his just long enough to give him a quick scan. She knew now that he was a Gryffindor, his name had been recalled in her memory. What a lovely little day it was turning out to be today. The girl was not at all concerned about later, she had a bit of a hunch that she would be able to keep Jaedyn around, he seemed like a sweetheart.
A gust of wind whistled past them, and her ebony hued hair began to play and dance around her face as she laughed and tossed her head back a bit. Her laugh was rather charming, and her face absolutely lit up with happiness. It was strange that such a day would bring her such happiness, or was she feigning it? That little fact was rather unknown, either way it was rather convincing. The girl began playfully wrapping a section of hair around her finger and looking up at the boy carefully.
He was another face that would be stored away into her memory forever, she was adding his little file into her cabinet that dwelled in her brain. Again now, she decided to speak. "What's a charming fellow like you doing out here with your guitar?" A small step forward, closer to him. Her face seemed so innocent and yet so knowing at the same time. It was a strange, and beautiful, mixture for the girl, but she had learned how to play things up and make them look lovely. She bit her lower lip and began nibbling on it patiently, and for a moment broke the eye contact to give him yet another scan. The seductive look across her face widened.

Jaedyn smiled softly, his blue eyes catching Evelyn’s own. The boy couldn’t help but admit to himself how striking the girl before him was. He began to wonder why he’d never noticed her—let alone spoken to her—before now, but then he understood. The last month for him had been so hectic, what with the whole Portia drama and all. As much as he hated to admit it, Jaedyn had spent at least half of the last month heartbroken and confused. And now that he and Portia were done, and just friends once more, Jayd could breath a sigh of relief. He was finally back to his old self … well, aside from the nerves shaking at the edge of his mind, reminding him whenever he had a spare moment about upcoming Quidditch tryouts. Yeah, Quidditch. Jaedyn was far from an athletic boy; it wasn’t that he was lazy, only he didn’t picture himself as the most coordinated youth. Well, that and he was far from interested in any type of sport.
On what had to have been a whim, Jayd had finally tried his hand at the popular wizard sport. With the help of the Gryffindor captain, he’d unlocked a completely astonishing talent. He was actually fairly good at the Seeker position. But the mere thought of students much more practiced in the sport had him on edge about the tryouts. Not to mention, those Bludgers were pretty damn ferocious. But for whatever the reason, Jayd had been kept from meeting the girl before him in previous years, something slightly unsettling but all the more unchangeable. There was nothing he could do about the past, and that was fine with him. Breaking from his thoughts, Jaedyn’s smile widened as well as he noticed the girl take a step closer to him. He wasn’t one of those people who was completely protective of his personal bubble, but he surely wasn’t one to run around hugging others on an urge, either. Thus, her movement forward did little to bother him.
His dodger blue eyes smiled of their own accord as she spoke her name. He caught the lovely quality of her voice, though the naïveté in him kept Jayd from pinpointing the flirtatious tone. It was something a few of his closer friends always seemed to tease the boy about. The fact that he was oblivious to the number of girls crushing on him was rather hilarious in some eyes. “It’s a delight to meet you too,” he spoke before trying the girl’s name out on his own lips, “Evelyn.” He ducked his head just slightly as a gust of wind blew, his own mop of sandy blonde hair dancing around his head. Jaedyn couldn’t help but smile as her laugh reached his ears, silently watching her toss her hair in the breeze. The girl before him—Evelyn—seemed like such a happy girl, a free spirit in his eyes. It was hard not to share that joy she portrayed. His blue eyes followed her hand as she reached up to play with her dark hair, watching the strands twirl in her fingers before flicking his gaze back to her face.
He raised his eyebrows slightly as she spoke again, turning his head slightly to look down at his guitar case before returning his eyes to Evelyn. He shrugged as he thought up a response, running a hand through his hair once more. “Trying out a new song, I guess. Earn a little cash?” His last statement carried with it a questioning tone, almost as if he were guessing what he had been doing. He smiled, looking down at her innocent face. “And you?” he asked. “What brings you to the lovely Hogsmeade?”

The girl smiled and proceeded in playing with her deep ebony hued locks. A careful smile was placed upon her palid features, and she stood there, observing her finger that was toying her her hair carefully. The vibrance of her blue eyes seemed to radiate from her face, and for a moment she held the silence between them. She let herself take control of the conversation, dictate it, demand all the twists and turns. The ups. The downs. Such a pretty little figurine controlled everything, and with hardly a touch of her finger too. It seemed natural to her, and the girl permitted this long pause. She was giving the boy a chance to see if he was going to exert himself or let herself take control, as well as give him a chance to cook up a response to her. At last he responded, and the girl looked up at him and cast a playful wink in his direction.
Upon hearing her name roll across his tongue she giggled a bit, and let a rather excited smile creep over her facial features. She liked the sound of it, it entranced her. Somehow she felt interested in this male, more than others, but perhaps it was just that he had drawn a bit more lust than most did around her. It sparked interest in her why she felt so fluttery today in contrast to other days, perhaps she was just ready for something exciting. Either way, the girl was curious about her emotions and was interested in figuring out what was causing her such interest in this Jaedyn.
"Oh?" she permitted her interest and curiosity to spark in her voice, the boy could not be silly enough not to notice that. She, indeed, was interested in what he had to say about his musical career and talent. A hunch was forming in her mind that he would be rather modest about his talent and abilities, even though she had already seen how good he was. "You seemed rather, talented from what I heard," she said with a sly smirk forming over her features. The female took another step towards him. The seductiveness in her features growing with each passing moment. She would figure this Jaedyn out, she had to. It was her own interest and natural neediness that was driving her so much.
The girl let the gentle breezes that were whipping through the streets play with her hair, and she enjoyed them. Nature had a way of bringing out the best in her, even if she didn't wish it to. The girl was absolutely ecstatic with anticipation for the night time. Night time was her time. She was a creature of the night, not literally, more like figuratively. The Gryffindor girl adored night time to the point that she was more likely outside at night than she was inside. The girl could sacrifice her sleep for this, it was very much worth it, always.
"Me? Oh, I'm just wandering, trying to find someone to occupy my night," another wink came from her vibrant blue eyes. A giggle escaped her lips and she adjusted herself and brushed her foot across the top of his. "Oops," the girl giggled and began toying with her hair almost instantly again. It seemed like looking down and playing with her hair brought out her facade of innocence. This was something she liked to use quite a bit, it seemed to make people overlook the fact that she was trying to seduce them. At least for awhile, it seemed to attract the male race enough to make them more interested. Or so the girl had hoped, and thus far it seemed to be working. The question for he was how long would it continue to work?

Jaedyn couldn’t help the soft smile that twinkled in his blue eyes as he watched Evelyn play with her hair. There was something just so natural—innocent—about the action. It was one of those things that seemed to just call for a smile. He blinked, almost taken aback at the wink directed to him, and surely didn’t go so far as to wink back. But once a giggle sounded from her, that grin made itself more apparent on Jayd’s lips. There was an air about the girl before him that was nothing less than pleasant to be around—perhaps due to her obvious self-confidence, or maybe that innocence that just kept rolling off of her actions. Whichever it may have been, Jaedyn couldn’t help but be drawn to her in the oddest of subtle ways.
“Yeah.” The word left his throat alongside a short chuckle, a flush still toying at the back of his neck. He shoved his hands into the front pockets of his jeans, trying to keep himself from continuing the habit of toying with the hair at the back of his head. It was a nervous habit of sorts, brought out by awkward situations and his modest responses to praise. He looked up from under a fringe of blonde hair, meeting Evelyn’s curious expression with a boyish, very Jaedyn grin. “I’ve been playing since I was little,” he explained, a certain light glowing in his person. Jaedyn’s passion for music was unwavering. He loved fiddling around on his guitar or a piano, and it seemed like songs just flowed from his fingertips.
And still he was modest about it all; it came from being raised in an equally humble household, I suppose. He smiled softly once more as the breeze blew at them both; Jaedyn couldn’t help but watch her hair dance in the wind, eyes dropping to the pavement meekly as he realized so. The Gryffindor boy didn’t much favor one time of the day over the other … unless classes were involved of course. Sure, Jayd was at least passing all of his classes, but he wasn’t particularly fond of academics. He wasn’t a morning person as much as he wasn’t a night owl, and as long as he didn’t have to sit through a particularly boring class, Jaedyn was fine with any time.
Another boyish smile grew on Jaedyn’s lips as he caught sight of the wink Evelyn had sent him, chuckling softly at her words. And though he was still oblivious to the meaning behind her statement, a flush burned at the back of his neck, creeping slowly to his ears. His eyes turned to their feet as he felt her brush the top of his shoe; only then did Jaedyn realize just how close they were … which didn’t do much to stop the blush that began to redden his ears. Oh, poor naïve Jaedyn. And when he looked up again, he smiled softly, watching her play with her hair once more. He didn’t back away; though he was slightly uncomfortable, the feeling hadn’t hit hard enough to make him move away. Besides, Evelyn … Evelyn was just an innocent girl … right?
