Her early morning class had just ended, thus that's where she was headed from. It was still fairly early, especially for someone as prone to hating mornings as Melrose. Ten o'clock was what the clock read when the class had been dismissed. The Gryffindor girl yawned, covering her mouth with a thin-fingered hand as she did so. God, did she hate mornings. She had just left the dungeons, was walking through the Entrance Hall on her way to the upper stories of the castle.
She was still in her school uniform, or, as much of it as she would wear--of course, it was styled in her own way. Black high-heels replaced the flats; grey leg-warmers replaced the knee-high socks. Her grey and red pleated plaid skirt stopped just at the midpoint of her thigh—just scraping past dress code—and her white button-up shirt wasn't tucked in; instead, it was looped in a hair-thing over her right hip, a bit of her flat stomach showing below the bunched up fabric. A Gryffindor-colored tie hung loosely around her neck, the actual tie-part starting around her breast bone. Her blonde hair? Pulled back into a perky pony-tail, of course.
She held her potions book in her grey messenger bag, the item's strap slung over her left shoulder. She'd done better on the quiz thing than she'd thought she would, but then again, Scarlett had basically given her the answers for that one--like usual. She blinked softly, heading in the direction of the Gryffindor tower. She needed to relax ... and a nap didn't sound too bad as well.
Good lord, did early-morning classes not agree with the girl or what? She brushed a hand lightly along the strap of her bag, stopping abruptly when the person in front of her froze in his [her?] tracks. “What?” she called, not really seeing anything to stop for. The halls weren’t packed, but there was a steady stream of students making their way from class to class. Her question wasn’t really a question, but more of a statement pointing out that this particular person was blocking part of the hall. And she had only one period to get back to the Tower anyway.. Mel didn’t really want to spend it behind some dipshit that decided to stop every two seconds.

come from a student a ways back from her. Turning her head around, Lilyth recognized the girl who had spoken. Melrose, right? She was John's girlfriend or something like that. Lilyth didn't know her personally, but she'd hear different things from different people about Melrose. Some of them nice... some... eh, let's not go there kay? Simply pointed to the tussling girls and rolled her eyes. She didn't roll her eyes at the question in one of those all knowing ways. It was more of a 'Look-at-this-what-the-heck-are-they-doing-' sort of eye roll. [/ul]

Melrose raised an eyebrow as the yellow (yes yellow not blonde) haired girl turned around and pointed to some sort of cat-fight that was going on just before them—and the rest of the students that had oh-so-annoyingly gotten stuck in that very hall because of said fight.
Melrose tilted her head to one side, popping her hip (no not in the sound way, gosh) as she transferred all of her weight from both legs to just one—her right leg to be exact. She examined the fight with a completely bemused look, pursing her lips for a second and turning back to the other girl as she quickly became bored with the whole … catastrophe?
“Seriously, Elaina and Stephanie? They’ve been at it for weeks,” she confided, rolling her eyes and letting her eyes wander toward the two girls once more. She was tempted to just stalk up to the two and explain to them just how petty they both were… but she didn’t. Why? Surely not because she was afraid of getting caught in the middle of the fight; more like because she didn’t feel like it. Doing something of that sort was too much trouble for her right now.
But seeing as she wouldn’t get to the Gryffindor tower any time soon… “I’m Melrose,” she introduced herself, smiling just slightly. The other girl was clearly not someone she would hang with normally, but considering she had virtually no one else to talk to, well… may as well make an attempt, right?

Glancing from the scene before her, and back to the girl who had just half-explained what was going on, Lilyth continued and speak in her annoyed tone “God, the drama that brews up in less than two months.” The rest of the students standing around Melrose and Lilyth were starting to get more than a little pissed off at being stopped in the middle of the stairs. And for those who couldn’t see past Lilyth and Melrose, it looked to them like the girls had just decided to stop moving. ‘Hello! Girls, you two can have you’re chat later. Move you’re fine little asses or I’ll come up and move them for you!’ The call had come from a ways below, and when Lilyth looked past Melrose to see who was screaming at them, she wasn’t pleased. It was one of the idiotic 7th year Gryffindors. Yeah, Gryffindor was the house of the brave and the strong and the true, yatta yatta yatta. In Lilyth’s mind though, once they hit their 7th year, the Gryffindors just got obnoxious. She had yet to have a positive encounter with a male 7th year in the house of Gryffindor. Grabbing onto the banister with both her hands, Lilyth leaned over the side and locked eyes with the idiot who had tried to call her and Melrose out. “Oi! If you want us to move, come and break up the catfight why don’t you?”Not waiting for a reply for the older boy, Lilyth leaned back from the banister and turned back to Melrose. When the other girl offered her name, Lilyth sent her a half smile of her own and offered her name as well. “I’m Lilyth.” Glancing half-heartedly at the two girls who had been identified as Elaina and Stephanie, Lilyth decided that she may as well start a bit of a conversation with the girl, since it seemed like they weren’t going to be moving anytime soon. “Umm…. You’re Jon’s girlfriend, right?” A slight feeling of embarrassment crossed Lilyth internally, knowing that she sounded a little bit like a stalker at that point. “I mean, Jon’s one of my best friends. He’s told me about you…” Brushing at a stray piece of her bangs, Lilyth bit her lower lip lightly. [/ul]
