overall:: Shane's appearance? Where to begin? Well, to say that he was a clean cut, extraordinarily handsome man with nearly no flaws would be more than an overstatement. On the other hand, however, to call him ugly, or even unattractive would be a bit more than an understatement. To say the least, you could put him somewhere in the middle, average to say the least.
The simple color of Shane's eyes is nothing to get excited about. They're an average dark chocolate brown color and just as normal as every other pair of brown eyes. The color seems to blend with his black pupils when he's in the shadows, but while he's in the sun they seem to glow.
Shane has an oval shaped, muscular face. His pale pink lips are just like everyone else's, nothing special at all. They tend to dry out during the winter months, but he doesn't do anything to prevent it. The rest of his face is just about as average as it can get. A broad rounded, natural looking nose, and dark, naturally shaped eyebrows that don't take much grooming. His skin is smooth, and naturally tan. Though he does allow a little bit of stubble to appear every now and again, Shane makes sure that his face is fairly well shaved, as well as the rest of the hair on his head.
As far as his body type, he has a very muscular, athletic build. He's tall and keeps his body in excellent shape. He's not 'thin' but he has a healthy look about him. He has broad shoulders and decent abs. His muscles are sleek and he is usually completely ripped. His entire body is muscular, though his arms and pecks are what people tend to focus on. He's tall, strong, and athletic. He has naturally black, curly hair, though most people don't realize it. He shaves it off regularly and hasn't let it grow back in years. He doesn't have the patience to let it grow back and he thinks it much easier just to shave it off.
Shane is a bit of an early bird, always one of the first to arouse in the morning and ready to start a new day. Even so, it doesn't take him long to get ready in the morning. Most days he'll throw on a simple wife beater or a t-shirt as well as a pair of baggy jeans. School days, however, he will dress up just a bit more, wearing a pair of black dress pants and a plain t-shirt. He's not one to dress up, but when he does he looks quite stunning. He always has his watch on and a silver chain. No matter if he's dressed for class or for casual, he can usually be found wearing a nice pair of black Doc Martins.

overall:: If Professor Shane Nicholas Varrick's personality had to be summed up into one single word, I would have to say that word would have to be "mysterious". He's the type of person to keep mainly to himself, and though his looks can be intimidating, he's a kind hearted man with good intentions. Other than that, however, this teacher is just your average guy. He's comfortable being himself, and wouldn't change for anything. He's been the way he is since he was young and no matter how many people try to get him to change, he'll still refuse. You can always count on him to act like himself, whether that means showing the true passion he feels for Quidditch, or the annoyed look he gets when a bubbly Hufflepuff won't leave him alone.
The outdoors is Shane's haven. He loves being outside where the strong scent of pine from the Forbidden Forest can reach his nose, the wind rustling through the trees and the faint calls of the many animals that live there can reach his ears. Being outside has always been Shane's 'safe house'. Though he loves being outside, he truly dislikes bad weather and the cold winter. He hates having to bundle up, but his heart rests in the bright sunshine of the summer. He also loves being active, having something to do to keep him busy. He takes care of his body, which could mean both that he works out and eats right, though he has been known to slack off a bit here and there. He's not a total health nut.
Shane is known most for his mysterious, sensitive, quiet, and passionate attitude. He tends to keep to himself a lot, being a bit shy around people. You'd never think that from his appearance now would you? In reality he's just a big teddy bear, and he knows his limitations. He isn't quite fond of the loud, obnoxious, happy all the time, smiley type of people. He certainly won't walk up to someone he doesn't know unless he has a reason to. He is, however, quite easy to become friends with, once you realize he isn't what he looks like. Most people take him for a big oaf with no brains due to his appearance and his career choice, but that's not even close to being true. In reality he's an intelligent, sensitive guy that is passionate about what he does and wants nothing more than to share that love with the next generation.
Obviously in his thirty five years of life, Shane has been attracted to a number of girls. There have been the few little flings here and there, but there were only a couple that had been actual serious relationships. After breaking off the latest of his more in depth relationships, Shane seemed to lose all hope in love, not bothering to look for someone to spend the rest of his life with. He figured if it was meant to happen, he shouldn't need to go out looking for that one special girl.
Though Shane is just a big softy on the inside, he tries to keep his reputation as a hardcore Quidditch player and won't admit his good nature.

overall:: Todd and Ginger met through their parents, who were friends throughout their own Hogwarts careers. Though they spent a lot of time together during their childhood, Todd and Ginger were never pressured into anything. It was a bit of a surprise to their parents when they came home stating they were together. Though they were shocked, they were supportive and happy for the couple. Just over a year after the couple started dating they were engaged, and six months later they were married happily. After several years of smooth marriage, the couple was blessed with a beautiful baby boy, Shane. They both were happy, loving parents and Shane grew up in a middle class family in the heart of New York City.
During Shane's sixth year of life, the family of three was turned into a family of four with the birth of Brendon Dominic Varrick. At first Shane wasn't sure what to do with a younger brother, but as time went by he became a caring older brother. As he grew older Shane showed increasing signs of magic, which got him into a bit of trouble a couple times. When he was nine, however, the family packed their bags and moved from the city to a roomy house just outside of London, England. During the summer a couple years later, Shane received his letter and with that realized the reason his parents decided to move to England.
Obviously, Shane attended the school for the entire seven years, enjoying his time there, studying and paying attention in class, but his heart always seemed to lay on the quidditch pitch. He spent most of his years there dreaming about one day becoming a professional quidditch player and played for his house team from his second year through his seventh. You could say that he fell madly in love with the sport and even became the captain of the Gryffindor team for a couple years. Though he wasn't the smartest person in class, Shane made sure to pay attention in class and do most of the homework that was assigned to him. He worked hard and as a result has become a rather intelligent man, despite how he may not look it.
After graduating Hogwarts his seventh year, Shane spent six months trying nothing more but to get onto a professional quidditch team. Finally, with much hard work, he was recruited onto London's team and played for them for several years. However, playing in the pro's wasn't exactly all Shane had hoped it would be. Though his love for the game never faltered, he found that many of the players only played for the fame and money that came with it. He believed in playing the game just to be out there and to have fun. He found the pro's to be extremely intense and the only thing they cared about was winning. Shane didn't want to end up like that, so without hesitation, he dropped his career as a professional quidditch player and took up a job in a broom shop in Diagon Alley.
All Shane had ever wanted to do was play quidditch, so when he gave it up, he was at a blank as to what to do with the rest of his life. Spending day after day doing the same redundant thing over and over again in the shop seemed to bore Shane to death, so when a fateful day a month before Hogwarts was due to open for the year, Shane snatched at the opportunity. While working the shop, a group of students doing their school shopping came in to look around. Through an odd string of events, Shane ended up teaching and explaining about the sport of quidditch and a variety of brooms. Eventually, however, the students moved on and Shane regrettably resumed his work. That night he sent his owl to Hogwarts with an application and the rest, as they say, is history.

roleplay sample:: (can be recycled, and remember, quality before quantity)Shane quietly made his way down the stone steps of the castle, multiple broomsticks thrown over one of his powerful shoulders. He wore a simple black wife beater that revealed his muscular arms and semi-baggy tan cargo pants that were held up by a simple leather belt. A black pair of faded Doc Martins covered his feet, his black watch wrapped around his wrist, hiding an awful tan line, and his dark chocolate brown eyes were protected from the bright afternoon sun by a pair of dark sunglasses.
Glancing around the almost empty lawns, he began his walk toward the quidditch pitch with a brisk pace. He wasn't surprised to see only a few students scattered across the fading grass. After all, it was the middle of afternoon class. He figured most of the students were probably in class. Dry leaves that had fallen from the trees nearby were tossed across the lawn and crunched noisily under his feet as he continued to walk. It was funny how it looked like fall, yet it still felt like late summer. Not that Shane was complaining, he hated the cold months that were just around the corner.
Shifting the heavy load to the other shoulder, he cut across the grass. Looking fondly up at the hoops that could just barely be seen on the other side of the wall of stands, he didn't realize who he was approaching, or the purple flowers she seemed to be playing in. It was only when she called out to him that he instantly recognized her annoying voice and he stopped mid step, regretting not noticing her sooner.
