Kai nodded her agreement with his statement and asked. "Do you think you'll be able to make it to the game? I went to one when I was little but I hardly remember it." She wanted to keep this part of the conversation going because it seemed like he was a different person with this subject. Slipping her shoes off under the table she brought her legs to a criss-cross position and once again redid her bun, only this time, bringing it to a braid on the side of her face.
She smiled and giggled a little. "Well, just let me know when break time is over. I haven't got anything to do the rest of the day. It's kinda depressing actually." She made a mocking sad face then had to laugh at herself. It truly was sad that here she was, a relatively lively girl, with nothing to do all day. She felt sorry for anyone who had to put up with her fidgeting. Kai wasn't known for sitting still.

Xander shrugged. "If Ireland makes it to the Quidditch Cup, I'll be there." He didn't care if that meant flying all the way there by himself. He hadn't been to a game in years and it was about time he went. What better than to make it the Quidditch Cup? He had been looking out the window as he spoke, but as he heard Kai move he glanced back. He watched her play with her hair before catching himself and averting his eyes, returning his gaze to his fingers.
He nodded his head a bit, a small smile on his face. He doubted he'd tell her when break time was over, he really didn't want to go back to studying. If anything he would just pack up his things and head someplace else to do something he could actually pay attention to. He glanced back at her, "What are you planning on doing after you get out of school?" he asked. It was a stupid question, but it was the first thing that popped into his head.

Kai smiled a little when she felt his eyes on her and for some reason, blushed. "Wow, dedicated." Her eyes flashed with humor. She made a mental note to beg her parents to let her go. They usually didn't spend money on 'useless' things like that. "So what position do you play?"
She took a deep breath and let a mocking, quizzical look cross her face. "Wow, the future. I haven't really thought about it. I guess do a bit of traveling, then figure out what I want to do." it was a truly sad thought that after so long of being here around people who were destined to achieve greatness, she hadn't even thought of what she might want to do once she was out of here. Pulling out her mental note book she wrote down Find something to do with your life "What about you? Going to try out for Ireland?"

Xander blushed slightly at her comment. Sure, he was dedicated to the sport - okay, he was a whole lot dedicated to the sport. It made up his entire life. Maybe he would be able to get Charity or Ava to go with him. If not Charity, he knew Ava would definitely go with him. Kai's next question pulled him from his thoughts. "Chaser." He shrugged. He was okay at playing all of the positions, but he was best and most enjoyed his position as Chaser. It was like that was the most intense part. If you were a chaser, you were always on the move. There was never a dull moment.
Xander nodded again, if he hadn't had his heart set on becoming a professional quidditch player he didn't know what he would do. Thinking about it, he realized his low chances of actually making it into the pros. He would be lost if he couldn't play. That's all he ever wanted to do, he hadn't really thought of a back up plan. He smiled as she asked if he was going to try out for Ireland. Was he really that easy to figure out? "That's my first choice. But if I don't make the Ireland team, I'll try out for England." He said. "Either way, I'm really hoping I'll make it in the pros." he explained. If he had to, he'd try out for all of the teams, just so he could get his name out there. Sooner or later, he'd be able to switch to one of his preferred teams.

Kai nodded and remebered the few games she had been to, also remembering seeing a figure that resembled him. Bitting her lip she looked out the window. It was a semi-warm day and the sun was just begining to peek out from behind the clouds. A few birds flew carelessly and a couple squirls played tag in the yard. Accidently she laughed out loud at the was they ran around, so full of energy and so playfull. Imidietly her hand flew to her mouth, eyes wide, and her face getting a rosy color. Oops! She started to laugh and relized how long it had been since she'd done so.
Gathering herself she said I've seen you play a few times and Ireland would be crazy not to accept you. Bach where she came from people didn't compliment eachother, just their heard of cows, or their newest tractor, so her compliment was a bit stiff and she hoped that he didn't think she was just saying that because it seemed like something that one would say.

A curious look appeared on Xander's face as the Hufflepuff sitting across from him began to laugh. His green eyes scanned the scene outside the window as she continued to look. He couldn't see what was so funny, the sun had just poked out of a group of clouds and there were a few birds flying around. Dead leaves drifted to the ground lazily, and then he noticed what he thought she was laughing at.
There was a pair of rather young looking squirrels running around the base of a tree in the middle of the lawn in a game of tag. He smiled and looked back at her as she covered her mouth. He couldn't help the light chuckle that escaped his lips as she caught herself. He simply shook his head and looked back out the window.
A slight blush appeared on the Gryffindor's cheeks as Kai complimented his playing. He tried not to be egotistical about it and he knew that no matter how good people told him he was, there was always room for improvement. He smiled, "Let's just hope they think the same way," he replied, not thinking about her compliment as if she didn't mean it. He didn't really care either way though.
Glancing back at the girl, he moved his eyes to the table. He wasn't sure what else to talk about. "Do you have any siblings?" he asked. He thought the question was stupid and completely unrelated to anything they talked about. It was also a very common question. He kicked himself for asking it, but hoped that Kai wouldn't notice. There he was, acting like an idiot again.

Kai had been expecting a very non-modest reply to her compliment, not because she thought he was like that, just that most guys that talked to her were that way and anything other than that attitude caught her off guard. So when he was very modest about the compliment she tried to hide the brief pause before she was able to collect herself and continue with their conversation.
Sure, it was a random question and a common one she got, but it meant not having to bear the awkward silence between them so really, any question was OK with her right now. No, not as far as I know... Her mind reeled back to the fight between her and her parents two years ago. She had wanted to go out for the quidditch team but her parents thought it was a terrible sport and no place for a "lady of status" to be spending her time. Kai couldn't care less about her status. She wanted to play. What started out as a small disagreement soon turned into an all out family war. Since then she hadn't talked to her parents any more than to let them know her grades and when she would be home in the summer. So honestly, she had no clue what was going on at home. Kai didn't want him to think she was retarded so she explained the situation the best she could to him. My parents and I haven't talked for about two years so I don't know whats happened since then. If they've addopted, had one of their own. But last I knew, I was the only one. She kept her voice even and seemingly detached from the subject and kept her eyes on her hands which were twisting in a nervous fashion. Looking up she bit her lip, hoping that he didn't think she was just trying to make him feel sympathy for her. Besides her closest friend Buzz, she hadn't told anyone else about her family issues and didn't know why, after only about 20 minuets, she had told him.
((Funny you ask, I'm actually looking for a brother for Kai. hehe

((Due to lack of sleep and the fact that my body is running off caffeine and sugar... I cannot guarantee anything as far as the quality of this post.)) Whatever Kai was afraid Xander would notice after his rather modest reply to her compliment, the Gryffindor was completely oblivious. He continued to stare at his fingers as he waited for the girl's reply to his rather pitiful question. At her strange reply, he looked up, a curious expression on his face.
His eyes returned to looking at the lines in the wood table as she began to explain her answer. He didn't mean to bring up such a touchy subject by asking the simple question. Not really knowing what to say in return, Xander simply nodded. "I have a little brother," he offered with a small smile.

Kai hoped that she hadn't just unloaded a bomb on him and that he thought she was some sort of freek for not having a relationship with her mother. But everyone has their family problems, her's were just a bit bigger than the average curfew argument. Kai swalloed hard and rearanged her limbs under her body and rolled up the sleaves of her sweat shirt. She didn't want to take it off just for the fact that she had only a small lacy tank top underneath and she wasn't one to show such things to an almost stranger. Kai nodded and said. "Oh cool, I've always wanted and older brother. Most girl want an older sister, but they are usually to high maintnence and I wanted someone to be 'one of the guys' around. It's cornie I know." and once again she was back to spilling her guts. Great, oh well, if he wasn't used to her babling by now, he probably never would be and for that matter, wouldn't have to if he said the word.

Yes, Xander was uncomfortable with the information Kai had given him. But then again, this was Xander we were talking about. Just talking to a girl made the poor Gryffindor uncomfortable. Though she had made him feel this way, he didn't see her as a 'freak' at all, maybe just a bit strange.
Xander looked back at the Hufflepuff as she stated she wished she had an older brother. "Ian and I are nothing alike whatsoever. He'd rather stay inside and play his guitar than outside on a broom or anything." He said, thinking back to his third year brother. Hell, the two boys didn't even look much alike, not like some siblings.
The Gryffindor didn't mind the girl talking so much. It was nicer than having to sit in a rather awkward silence. No, he would much rather listen to what she had to say.

Kai listended intently to the Gryffindor boy. At least you have a sibbling she thought. She wanted so despritly to some how have some sort of sibbling that she would give almost anything, do almost anything, even talk to her parents, to have one. sighing she redid her hair again since it had been a while since she had moved a part of her body. She wasn't the kind of person who wanted to sit still.
So what do you like to do in your spare time other than quidditch? sure, it was a lame atemt at conversation but it was better than silence.

Xander's eyes fell to his hands on the table and he grew silent. He felt awkward talking about his brother with the girl. It was strange, like there was a vibe coming from the Hufflepuff across from him. His ears turned a slight shade of pink and a muscle in his jaw twitched as he swallowed.
He glanced at her as she changed the subject, watching her play with her hair a bit before returning his green eyes to his fingers. He shrugged. "I don't know, do homework, hang out with friends." Quidditch was such a big part of his life, there were times it felt like that was the only thing he had on his mind. But then again, there was now Charity he had to think about and he did enjoy hanging around with his friends.
His eyes flicked back to her as he fell silent again. "What about you?" he asked, a bit of a friendly smile tugging at his lips.

Kai didn't want this conversation to end. Not only because she didn't have anything else to do that day, but also that she was enjoying the company.
She pushed back her chair and raised her hands over her head and streached out her shoulders. They were still a bit soar from the night before when she was so plum tired that she just plopped into bed, still fully dressed in shoes and make-up. I like pretty much everything. I am trying to teach myself guitar, I like to read, run, hang around. Stuff like that that doesn't require very many brain cells I guess. She finished with a laugh since this wasn't entirly true. While the activity itself wasn't very challenging, her mind seemed to always wander to insightful questions that she would try to work out herself.
Kai sighed and sat back. She decided that maybe she should let him get a few questions in instead of running her mouth. If he didn't take the oportunity, well then she would just have to come up with something to keep the conversation light.

Xander ran his fingers through his short brown hair as he shifted his position in the chair. Looking back at the girl, he was starting to warm up to her. He didn't really want the conversation to end. He was enjoying the Hufflepuff's company and he really didn't want to go back to doing homework. He watched as Kai stretched, averting his eyes as they met hers. Unable to keep the girl's gaze as she spoke, his eyes flitted between her and the markings in the wood table. His mind thought back to his brother as she mentioned teaching herself to play guitar.A small smile flashed across his features at her last comment, nodding his head in agreement.
Again, he shifted in his seat, this time a bit more uncomfortably as a silence fell over them again. He couldn't really think of anything to say in order to spark the conversation again. Nothing seemed to pop into his mind that wouldn't make him sound like a complete idiot. Finally giving up on thinking on something else to talk about, he remained silent, waiting - and hoping - the girl would start the conversation up again.

Kai hadn't relized before just how tired she was and laid her head back and closed her eyes. She was the type of person that enjoyed silence as long as it wasn't and akward type. But then she remembered her company and figured that it wasn't the most comfortable thing for him so she righted herself and looked at the Gryffindor. There was something about him that was kinda odd and different but it was a good kind. She couldn't place her finger on it. What's your family like? she asked, just out of the blue. She was sure she sounded a bit corney but at the moment, she couldn't think of anything else to say. Besides, other people's family's couldn't be as crazy as her's. Sometimes she liked to think that she was apart of another persons family and could leave the broken one behind her, but she'd never admit that to anyone.
