Again, Xander shifted his position rather uncomfortably. The chairs in the library weren't exactly comfortable. The silence seemed to choke him, and almost in a panic he searched for something to say, something to spark the conversation. He watched as Kai laid her head back. He wished he could be so confidant around girls, to not care what they thought of him. The truth was though, he did care. He tried so hard not to act like an idiot, and still he ended up stumbling and acting as awkward as ever. He was rather relieved when she righted herself, his gaze meeting hers for a brief second before returning to the table.
Running his finger along one of the darker lines found in the wooden table, he shrugged at her question. "My dad was always real big into quidditch. He owns a broom shop in Diagon Alley, so he was the one that always pushed me to get into the sport. Not that I minded, I fell in love with it real quick. My mom's a muggle. She stays home and was the one that always encouraged me and my brother to do good in school. She spent more time with Ian while I was out with my dad," he paused, thinking about what the girl really wanted to know and not wanting to bore her with the details. "My mom didn't tell her parents about marrying a wizard so we have to pretend to be muggles when they come over. It's kinda funny, but I get some pretty cool things from them," he shrugged. Other than having to pretend in front of his grandparents, Xander had a rather normal life at home.
Looking up at Kai, he gave a hesitant smile. "I get the feeling you don't have a real normal life at home," he mumbled, not wanting to bring up anything the girl was unwilling to talk about. He hated listening to people talk about things that hurt them. It didn't matter if it was a girl or a boy who was talking about it, he liked having nice friendly conversations that he can laugh at, that he can pick at and have fun with. He didn't want to talk about something that would cause an awkward silence. He hated silence, especially with a girl he just met.
