Shaant sat crossed legged on the ground of the tower. He sighed quietly, three large books next to him. All dealing with the “inner eye”. The brown hair laid across green eyes as they closed gently once opening once more then closing. A composition notebook layed next to three larger books, Shaant had previously thrown his cloak with the Ravenclaw crest next to his side. His tie was hanging at a loose angle. One could only take so much mental stress before they did in fact fall apart.
Shaant had never felt so tired in his life, three revelations in one day was beyond his limit. His back was hard against the stone wall of the tower. A small breeze blew through the window on the left to Shaant. The sun was just now going down. He knew he should head back, but everything in him told him not to, or he simply couldn’t. He usually hid here after classes, his aunt had always warned him to only allow revelations through in a hidden area.
Shaant reached for the top of the three books but instead let his hand just fall on top of it. He used the books to help him get to his feet. He grinned his teeth together as making his feet of use once more. He grabbed onto the window sill to steady himself when he heard footsteps. Shaant’s back stood straight as he pretended to be looking at the window. That’s all he needed someone asking questions, then again he could be entirely wrong. Shaant turned his head to the side so he would see the person out of the corner of his eye once they made it through the doorway.

Aiden was unbelievably tired after a long day of classes. His feet slid lazily across the stone floor and his eyes were half closed as he made his way up the stairs to one of the towers. If he was so tired, why didn't he just go back to the Hufflepuff common room or something? Good question. But Aiden had fallen in love with the view from a particular tower window and it was a habit of his to head up there as the sun began to set.
It was beautiful to watch the sun slowly make it's way behind the shadows of the distant mountains, the forbidden forest and the great lake in plain sight as well.
He hadn't even bothered to change out of his uniform that night, he had gone from class to the great hall for dinner and then to the library to work on homework. Homework, he'd been getting more than usual lately. His yellow and brown striped tie hang loosely around his neck and he had ditched his cloak somewhere, though he couldn't quite remember. Then again, he couldn't care less at this point. His white button up shirt was untucked and the sleeves were rolled up to just above his elbows.
Glancing up, he was surprised just how far he had managed to climb up the tower without really thinking about it. The door was only a few more steps up. A relieved smile appeared shortly on his tan features as tired hand reached out to turn the knob.
Without bothering to look into the room, he sighed, walking toward the window. His blue-green eyes stared sleepily at the floor just in front of him. Noticing a pair of shoes, he stopped walking. A curious look appearing on his face, he followed the shoes up the body connected to them. "Oh, Shaant," he smiled, recognizing the Ravenclaw, though not as quickly as he would have if he was actually awake. "What's up?"

Shaant’s head pulsed with an enormous headache, one he had grown accustom to having after revelations. He sighed carefully as the steps grew closer. It wasn’t until the voice spoke did Shaant open his eyes once more to see Aiden. A small smile ran over the pale lips. “Aiden” Shaant replied nodding his head once towards him. He could tell his friend wasn’t all there as the almost glazed over eyes were wandering about. Shaant carefully turned and hopped onto the sill disguising the fact that he was in fact dying just as much as Aiden.
“What’s up?” Shaant replied, pausing for a brief moment. His eyes glanced down and over the three books on the ground and the notebook. He shrugged his shoulders once before looking back up to Aiden. “Homework, and lots of it” This of course was a little white lie. Shaant hadn’t told anyone at Hogwarts about well himself and he hadn’t planned on it. If anyone was going to know Aiden was going to be one of the first. Shaant had developed a small trust in Aiden and he hoped he had appealed to Aiden the same way.
“What about yourself mate? You look like your going to drop dead in any moment” Blunt, maybe even harsh but it came with a small amount of concern as the year older Ravenclaw stared at his Hufflepuff friend. The smile soon faded as the distant headache reminded him this wasn’t just a fun chat. He shoved it away once more as he watched Aiden. He kicked the books and notebook aside toppling over his own cloak then moving on the sill to make room for Aiden. He sighed quietly looking back to him, another small smile gracing his lips before the calm voice started once more.
“So what brought you all the way up here?” Shaant asked leaning on a column near him for support. Who knew “thinking” could cause so much physical pain. It literally felt like he had run for some great distance or just gotten back from a Quidditch Match taking a few bludgers to the body. Once he found a comfortable position he sat his hand on the side of him to steady himself then looking back to Aiden.

A smile appeared on Aiden's face in return to Shaant's as they greeted each other. His smile faded as the older Ravenclaw mentioned homework. "Yeah tell me about it. It seems like I'm getting twice as much as usual," he said, forcing a bit of a chuckle. Shaant was one of Aiden's closest friends and he felt like he could trust him with almost anything.
He shrugged as the question was bounced back at him. "I can spend all day catching waves and be fine, but one day of classes and doing homework and I'm completely beat. I don't know man, I think I'm gettin' weak," he chuckled, shaking his head and leaning against the wall. He didn't mind Shaant's up front question, he almost preferred it that way. It was just the way the Ravenclaw was.
He smiled at his next question, a bit of a blush starting at his ears. He shrugged, glancing out the window. "The view," he said finally. He was a bit embarrassed by it, but then again. It was just so spectacular. What could he say? The Hufflepuff had a thing for natural scenary. The conversation waking Aiden up a bit more, he looked at Shaant, "what about you?"

“It only gets worse” Shaant replied as Aiden said he felt like he’s getting more and more. Shaant could only smile as Aiden said he could spend all day in the water but classes killed. Shaant could relate he could manage being a seer in training with no trainer but one textbook to the head would be considered enjoyment instead of sitting through a rather lame and forever dragging on class. Especially divination, he enjoyed it but it was hard to pay attention when Shaant knew almost all of it from his own research.
“Ah, your not getting weak” Shaant replied finally. “It’s very common for all students to simply wilt in a classroom” Shaant’s grin could almost reach from ear to ear. It was after all normal to hate the classroom especially the boring subjects. Shaant was glad that Aiden hadn’t taken offense to his slightly harsh comment, it was just the way of Shaant. He spoke his mind and sometimes it was brilliant other times it just got him into trouble.
Shaant turned his head as Aiden stated that he liked the view. Green eyes looked from the window they currently were sitting in. It was stunning, the green eyes could see almost all campus. He nodded slowly agreeing with Aiden. “Yeah, it is quite spectacular I’ve never noticed you can almost see everything from this tower..I guess…. I’m always occupied” Shaant replied his eyes discretely turning towards the stack of books and notebook.
Shaant froze when Aiden threw his own question at him, as Shaant had previously done. He sighed rubbing the back of his head once. He hated lying, it was like him but his aunt was right there was to much to risk. He needed help though, he couldn’t do this by himself. Shaant stayed quiet for a few moments before shaking his head and looking back to Aiden. “I usually study, learn and well practice” Shaant replied finally, in a much quieter tone. Shaant wanted to tell Aiden, his lips moved but nothing came out. Discouraged Shaant closed his mouth once more and let a low sigh escape the corners of his mouth.

A small smile appeared on Aiden's face as Shaant told him the homework would only get worse. He nodded faintly, "It just seems like lately though," he said. His smile couldn't help but grow just a bit larger as the Ravenclaw told him he wasn't getting weak. "It's just so boring," he chuckled, leaning his tired body against the window sill and gazing out across the lawn.
Raising his eyebrows as Shaant finally took in the amazing view, he looked back at him. A curious look appeared on his face and he followed the older boy's eyes as he glanced back at the stacks of books Aiden had just noticed were there.
There were times the Hufflepuff got the feeling that Shaant was hiding something from him. There were just times when there was a sudden air of mystery and uneasiness that he picked up from, coming from the older boy. He wished that the Ravenclaw would just let him in on whatever was bugging him, that he could trust him with whatever it was, but he remained silent. No, he wasn't going to pressure his friend into telling him anything.
He waited for his friend to speak and listened to him as he answered his question. Mentally sighing as again the mysterious feeling slipped by unanswered. He watched as the Ravenclaw seemed to want to say something, holding his breath slightly, Aiden waited. When only silence hung in the air, he slowly let his breath out. "You know you can tell me anything, right?" he said, returning his gaze to the slowly setting sun.

“Well mate, you could always consider yourself not dying of boredom. You could get yourself shipped and transferred to a muggle school. Now that my friend would be DYING of boredom” Shaant replied with a small smile. The silence between them was a very strange one. He knew Aiden could tell he had hid something. Quite frankly Shaant was sick of hiding it. It was part of him and it wasn’t going to change anytime soon. Shaant paused when Aiden spoke once more.
Caught. Shaant drummed his finger against the stone wall while starring at Aiden before nervously turning his gaze towards the scenery outside the window. He bit down on his lower lip before opening his mouth and sighing. “Alright, but you have to swear you wont tell anyone. I mean it Aiden, I could be..used or something even more awful.” Shaant stared at the hallway to make sure no one was near. He then looked towards the ground outside the window. He pulled himself from the cill to sit on the ground to show how serious he was.
Shaant carefully rolled his sleeve up from his arm. There lying on his wrist was the seal of the seer, the inner eye. He carefully gazed around ocne more before looking to Aiden. His eyes narrowed once in disgust at it before sighing and letting his arm fall to his side. “Well, Aiden I’m a seer well a seer in training that is” Shaant replied keeping his voice extremely low. He placed his hands on his temple to try and push back the oncoming headache. His smile fading as he opened his eyes and looked back to Aiden. “I know, it’s weird. I can’t help it, it just happened I was born with is and well, I can’t tell anybody, got it?”

Aiden couldn't help but smile at Shaant's statement. It was true, he had friends back in California that were muggles and they were always complaining about stuff like that. He also had to go to their schools until he was eleven and got his letter. After all, his dad didn't exactly know about the wizarding world. It was a dramatic and long story that Aiden didn't feel like thinking about. "Yeah, I guess you're right. I would much rather be here."
The last thing the Hufflepuff wanted was to make things awkward between the two friends, but he didn't want Shaant to feel like he had to keep things from him. After all, friends were supposed to be there for each other, and how was Aiden supposed to be there if he didn't know what was going on? His one statement seemed to hit Shaant hard and Aiden felt a slight pang of guilt. He didn't want to force his friend into anything.
He watched, silently waiting for the Ravenclaw to say something as he nervously moved about. Shaant had his complete attention as he gave in and began to speak. He nodded, "Of course," he said, now really wondering what was going on. In the back of his mind he began to get worried. What was it that his friend had been hiding all this time? Watching the Ravenclaw sit down on the floor, Aiden followed suit, sitting beside him.
A somewhat confused expression appeared on Aiden's face as Shaant began to roll up his sleeve. His pale blue-green eyes falling on the seal located there. Pulling his eyes away from it, he looked back at Shaant. He listened, still somewhat confused as to why being a seer was such a big deal. He shrugged, a small reassuring smile appearing on his face. "Trust me Shaant, your secret is safe with me."

Shaant’s straightforward frown moved in the direction of turning to a smile, very slowly. He knew he could trust Aiden, still it scared him knowing he had told someone. The smile finally appeared but he noticed the small-confused expression on Aiden’s face, which made the smile fade once again. “Being a seer is tough” He finally replied the only guess of what could be troubling his friends’ mind.
“Doing things against your will, seeing things that could make you go mental. Strength can go from full to zero in about fifty seconds or less. It’s hard on just a normal body, and I can’t tell you how sick I am of sitting in class and randomly seeing something and have to be excused.” Shaant held his wrist with the tattoo in his arm finally letting it flop onto his thigh. He looked back up to Aiden and shrugged his shoulders.
“Sometimes I wish it wasn’t me, what if Andrea had gotten the gift” Shaant replied, he did wish his sister could have been the “lucky” one. It was no longer a gift to Shaant, he himself called it a curse. Green eyes stopped on the floor before starring back at his books and notebook. He grabbed for the notebook” For example” Shaant replied opening to a page, with three sections of writing. He then tilted it to show Aiden the three sections. “All in one class, can you imagine your mind being taken over for that long, it’s exhausting!”
Shaant let the notebook close, setting it next to there feet. He then moved his neck slowly to stretch it before looking back to Aiden. He let a small chuckle flow from his lips while watching the younger Hufflepuff. “So, do you have any deep dark secrets that you’ve been keeping from me all these years? "

A reassuring smile was the Hufflepuff's reply to Shaant's own slow forming smile. He understood the fact that the Ravenclaw was uneasy talking about this obviously untold secret. He listened quietly as Shaant began to explain the seriousness of being a seer. Aiden hadn't thought his confusion was that apparent, but he didn't say anything as his friend continued to answer his silent question.
It was obvious as the older boy continued to speak about being a seer, just how much Aiden didn't know about the topic. He was shocked to hear just how dreadful such a gift could be. It was much more than simply seeing into the future. He nodded silently as his friend continued to admit to him the large secret. The Hufflepuff's pale eyes scanned the long scratches in the notebook before Shaant closed it and set it down again. And Aiden thought that class was exhausting? His mind couldn't wrap itself around having to cut in and out like Shaant, he didn't think he could survive having such a 'gift'.
"I'm here for you man, whenever you need to talk about things," he offered with a small smile as the Ravenclaw finally drew to a close on the issue. Aiden chuckled softly at the older boy's last question, leaning back on his arms. "Nope," he shrugged with a smile. He had nothing to hide from the Ravenclaw, until something popped into his head. "Wait, you know that one time at lunch when your pumpkin juice kinda tasted funny?" he asked in a teasing tone. "I kinda dumped my ink in it," he finished, hoping to lighten the mood a little bit.

“I’ll hold you to that one mate” Shaant replied. He chuckled as Aiden said no there was nothing. But as the minutes continued Aiden had changed his mind. Shaant arched an eyebrow in surprise that there may actually be something that he had not known, or seen. “Oh really?” Shaant questioned waiting for Aiden’s response.
Shaant’s eyes widened before erupting into a small hysteria of laughter. “You do know my tongue was black for about 4 days” Shaant teased back. Shaant could tell Aiden was moving away from the touchy subject and Shaant was glad for it. He moved his head to the side before leaning back against the wall.
“So, inker any other devious plans for the future?” Shaant asked. The smile still plastered across his face. He then leaned his head against the wall before lifting his hand to himself. “Because I want to be part of them this time, and I don’t mean the unfortunate soul that has to test them”

Aiden smiled, giving his friend a small nod. He wouldn't have said it, if he hadn't meant it. He was glad the Ravenclaw had taken the joke as lightly as he had hoped. He chuckled in return, nodding as he thought back to the prank. "It took all my self control not to laugh while you drank it," he added, holding his sides as he shook with laughter.
"Inker? Is that my new nickname?" he asked, his voice remaining in a teasing tone as he raised his eyebrow. He shrugged, leaning back against the wall as Shaant asked to be part of the prank next time. "I'm not much of a prankster, but I know how to have fun," he said, thinking about whether or not he had any pranks planned for the future. Shaking his head, he looked back at the Ravenclaw. "I don't have anything as far as the future, but if you have any ideas, I'd be more than willing to lend a hand," he chuckled.

“Yes, well I can’t say I wouldn’t have done the same thing to you. But that’s what best mates are for, right?” Shaant replied once Aiden revealed that he had to hold back from laughter as he sat there and shook with laughter. Shaant nodded when Aiden asked if Inker was his new nickname. “Yup, I’m seeing something in the future involving embarrassing footie pajamas with your new nickname on it” Shaant replied sticking his tongue out as Aiden continued to laugh.
Shaant watched him lean back and proclaim how he was not a prankster. It was now Shaant’s turn to laugh. “Yeah well, maybe we should keep it that way. You might have a hidden talent for mischief” Shaant arched an eyebrow to emphasis how dangerous it could be for Aiden to invest in the mischief making, he might just end up with a permanent black tongue. Shaant nodded taking this statement into hand. He shook his head before shrugging looking back to Aiden. “I’ll let yea know if I come up with anything” Shaant yawned and stretched his leg out looking back to Aiden “So how was your vacation?”

Aiden couldn't help but laugh, nodding his head as the laughter seemed to echo in the open tower. "Right," he agreed in between bits of laugher. Shaant's threat of footie pajamas made Aiden stop laughing and look at the older Ravenclaw seriously. However that only lasted a few seconds and he burst into a smile again. "Just remember, what goes around comes around," he chuckled, arching a mischevious eyebrow at his friend.
The Hufflepuff's smile widened as the Ravenclaw spoke. "Nah, my talents rest in the water," he shrugged. Even if he was good at pranks, he wasn't the type to pull them constantly. Smiling back at Shaant, he nodded. Just another reason Aiden wasn't very good at pulling pranks: he could never think of any good ones. Vacation? They had only been at Hogwarts for a few months and already the Hufflepuff longed to be back in the water. "It was great. Everyday on the beaches of California with my grandpa. Surfing until it was too dark to see," he spoke as if he was there again. His eyes seemed to glaze over as he remembered his summer. "Too bad it's over. How was yours?" he shrugged, looking back at Shaant. He would miss the waves until he could go back during the holiday break.

“I would expect nothing less from you” Shaant replied with a smug grin covering his features as they discussed the repayment of torture. Shaant only nodded when Aiden said his talents lied in the water. Shaant was never around any where hot enough to simply frolic and have fun in the water. It would be completely unreal for Shaant to try and imagine what his friend was telling him. He laughed quietly as you could almost feel the longing in Aiden’s voice for the water once again. “ It’s hard to even imagine, our summers back home are much too cold to even think about taking a step towards water” Till it was too dark to see. Shaant shook his head, it seemed very strange almost like an alternate universe that someone could simply just surf all day. Then he had to realize not everyone had his schedule. His dad kept him hopping and his mother had him reading, at the end of the day there was about enough time to eat dinner before dropping from exhaustion and boredom. “Sounds like a lot of fun” Shaant finally concluded. The last question though threw Shaant off. He rubbed the back of his head, starring over to the stack of books before looking back to Aiden. “The Family had me on a pretty tight schedule. Get up study, practice Quidditch with my little sister, study, doing chores, stud-“ Shaant stopped not wanting to bored Aiden with his ridiculously borring life style. He chuckled softly before looking back to Aiden. “You get the picture..”
