Darek ran up the many stairs to the top of the tower, his four paws quietly hitting each stair. His black fur shined in the dim light as he moved quickly past the windows. His bushy tail stuck out, helping him keep his balance. Since he had learned to be an animagis, he needed all the practice he could get. As he reached the top, he returned to his human form. He breathed heavily, grabbing the handle of the door and letting himself into the empty tower. He was still working out the kinks, it hurt like hell to switch back and forth.
He glanced around, his dark hazel eyes adjusting to the semi-darkness. It was an hour after dinner and the sun had just set below the mountains. Darek rolled his shoulders sorely as he walked over, leaning on the wall and glancing out the window. He wouldn't have continued to work on the power if it didn't feel so good to be in his wolf form. Some how, he couldn't explain it, there was something about being an animal, a certain freedom that came with it.
Taking a deep breath, he closed his eyes tight. Concentrating his whole mind on the transformation he opened them again. Looking around he realized he yet again successfully had made it. Quietly he moved around. His dark hazel eyes were the same. His fur was completely black other than the markings that followed him in the transformation. Platinum blond strands marked the fur around his head and down the middle of his back. He stopped and looked curiously at the door, his ears perked up. Another benefit of being a wolf, an excellent sense of hearing. He could hear someone coming up the stairs.

Leon, in a pair of dark jeans and a dark T-shirt with a sweatshirt to match, strode towards the tower with a spell book and candle in hand. Not that he'd really need the candle, given his knowledge of the Lumos spell, but it would be nice to have an unshifting light source while he studied the book. The tower was his favorite place to get some peace and quiet, given how dark and isolated the place was.
Upon entering the tower's main stairway, Leon could've sworn he heard a thudding noise--and a door shutting--coming from above him. Slipping the candle into a pocket and exchanging it for his wand, he muttered, "Lumos," holding his wand aloft and advancing carefully up the stairway, spellbook tucked under his right arm, Leon being left-handed.
He reached the top of the tower uneventfully and came to the door. Leon checked to see if it was locked--which it wasn't--and paused to put an ear to it for a moment, listening. He didn't really hear much. Assuming there was no one inside--and this being Leon's second favorite room, the Slytherin common room being the first, Leon opened the door, thrust his still-glowing want tip inside, and jumped a foot at what he saw.

Darek sat in the darkest corner of the room, still in wolf form. His attention remained on what - or who - was on the other side of the door. He was certain there was someone there now, he had heard them cast a spell farther down. His moist black nose glistened and twitched as he caught the aroma the person gave off. It was a rather strong colone. Now he knew the person was virtually on the other side of the door and was almost positive it was a guy.
He cocked his head to the side as another scent passed his nose, it was familiar. He knew it somehow. Thinking back though, he couldn't seem to place it. The sound of the door opening however pulled him back from his thoughts. He stood, looking darkly at the person coming in, but relaxed when he realized it was Leon. He smiled in the way only canines could and returned to his human form. 'Ouch' he though, wincing slightly.
He wore a baggy pair of jeans that wear rather brutally torn and another, tighter pair underneath. A black belt with silver studs held them up. A red t-shirt was layered over top a black longsleeved shirt and silver rings covered most of his fingers. A thick black chocker was wrapped around his neck, followed by several silver chains, as always a silver hoop accented his right eyebrow and black eye makeup clouded his eyelids. His long black hair was spiked out, slightly resembling a lion's mane.
His smooth skin was pale and he smiled, his canine teeth just slightly oversized due to his recent transformation. What could he say? He was still working out the kinks. "Hey Leo, what's up?" He greeted moving forward, out of the shadows and into the light cast by the older Slytherin's wand.

Leon thrust his wand into the room, keeping the book behind him and glancing in both directions, trying to figure out who was where. He stepped into the room, and nearly jumped a foot when someone said, 'Hey Leo, what's up?' But then he saw Darek step out of the shadows in a somewhat peculiar outfit--a pair of shredded jeans with another, tighter pair of pants under--with a red T-shirtOdd choice of color for a Slytherin, Leon thought, with a black long-sleeved shirt under that.
Plus, there was all Darek's makeup and jewelry. Leon replied to Darek's question by dispelling his Lumos spell, and igniting the candle with a quick "Incendio!", and then proceeded to say, "Hey, Darek. I was just coming here to--" Leon indicated his book here"--see if I couldn't pick up some spells that could be used for a prank or self-defense. You?" Leon stepped over to the corner to set down the candle, then proceeded to turn towards Darek, waiting for an answer.

Just because Darek was in Slytherin didn't mean he wasn't allowed to wear red. A black skull was in the middle, along with random black paint splatters. He watched intently as Leon lit the candle, leaning against the cool stone wall heavily. His eyes flicked to the book the older boy was carrying. He swore the boy should have been sorted into Ravenclaw. He always had a book in his hands.
As he asked about what Darek was doing in the tower the boy simply shrugged. "Working on some complex Transfiguration." He answered. He wasn't going to lie to his friend about it. He just didn't want the entire school to know what he could do, besides most people didn't think he was any good at school anyways. It was more useful if not everyone knew. Sure, he was registered at the ministry, but it still wasn't common knowledge. Not yet at least. Darek would like to keep it that way for a while. He ran his tongue over his canine teeth. He'd have to work on that, he noted as he concentrated on returning them to normal size.

Leon noticed as Darek glanced at the book in his hand. "I think I know what you're thinking, and no, I'm not a Ravenclaw in disguise," said Leon with a half-mischievous grin. When Darek shrugged casually and stated he was working on some complex transfiguration, Leon asked, "Anything I can help with?" Leon figured he was trying to get ahead in Transfiguration; he'd always thought that the changing of objects into totally unrelated ones was Darek's favorite thing to do. Leon noticed the size of Darek's canines, and then how the other Slytherin licked them. "Don't suppose you're turning into a vampire on me, are you, mate?" asked Leon jokingly.
Leon moved off to the side of the room, within the single candle's dim light, and leaned lightly against the wall. He wasn't going to stand right next to his housemate, even if they were pretty good friends (by Leon's rating, anyway); at the very least, he wouldn't until he knew what was up.

Darek simply shrugged as Leo commented on not being a Ravenclaw. He arched an eyebrow as the older Slytherin asked if he could help. "Point proven." He stated, referring to Leon being a Ravenclaw. "And I doubt you'd be able to help me with it." He added, taking a seat on the floor against the wall. Transfiguration was in fact Darek's favorite class. He was good at it too.
He looked over at Leon questioningly as he asked something about being a vampire. "What are you talking about?" He asked, showing his teeth, which were back to normal. He chuckled, resting his arm on his knee. "I'm not a vampire, dude." He reassured Leon as he moved to the other side of the room. He wasn't going to come right out and tell Leon he was an animagus until he asked the right question. Until then, he'd just figure his way around it.

Leon sunk down on his haunches as Darek took a seat. "Fair enough, replied Leon in a skeptical tone, arching an eyebrow. He doubted there was anything transfiguration-related, beyond being an animagus or other form of shapeshifter. Leon had some reason to believe that Darek could change his own shape, given his unusual canine size.
"Then. . . can you turn into a dog or something?" Leon queried, thinking he was on to what seemed to be Darek's big secret. Leon, not having much recourse, sat down and began perusing through his book, glancing over the spell names and breezing through the descriptions.

Again, Darek shrugged. So the Slytherin, who was really a Ravenclaw in Darek's opinion, was obviously catching on. He came to the conclusion that he'd eventually have to reveal the fact that he was a wolf animagus to the older Slytherin. But hey, if Leon spilled the news to anyone Darek would spill his blood. He watched as he crouched down on the opposite side of the candle light.
Rolling his eyes, Darek sighed. "Something like that." He mumbled quietly, watching as Leon flipped through his book. He found himself wishing he was somewhere else, alone. He really didn't want the school to know. It would be awkward. The ideas ran through his mind. They'd all be coming up to him, asking for him to show them. To teach them how. He didn't want that. He just wanted to go about his business, without having to worry about fight people away from him. Besides, he couldn't get away with as much if everyone knew.

Leon was beginning to wonder how many times Darek would shrug in response to one of his statements or questions. "So what were you doing? Trying to look like a vampire?" Leon asked in a joking tone, still leafing through the book. "You know, if you want me to just leave, just ask. I won't be offended if you want to have some alone time." It wasn't, after all, the only place Leon could peruse his book in peace; he could go to the dormitory, for example--it was usually pretty quiet in there, barring at night, what with all the snoring idiots. Leon inched a bit closer to the candle, finding the light somewhat inadequate to see accurately from where he was sitting. He was sure to slide along the wall, though, in case Darek really was a vampire, despite what he said; the more time Leon had to react, the better, in his opinion. After all, you could never really trust someone until you knew they wouldn't surprise you with just about anything.

Darek chuckled, "I already told you. I was working on some rather complex Transfiguration. Not trying to look like a vampire." He smiled, not that turning your teeth into fangs was that hard. He fell silent, the sound of the pages of Leon's book flipping was the only sound in the tower. Darek leaned his head against the wall before arching his eyebrow at Leon's next comment.
He smiled. "Nah, dude. You're fine." He replied. "But if you're going to be here, don't ignore me just to read your stupid book." He added, nodding his head toward the book in the older Slytherin's lap as Leon scooting closer to the candle. Darek noticed the way he seemed to be almost scared of him. Rolling his eyes he tried again. "I'm not a vampire. I'm not going to kill you. You don't have to be scared." He chuckled.

Leon shrugged. "Oh, I know, just messing around with you. I get the feeling I'm succeeding, too," said Leon with a grin. Pretending to be afraid of Darek was quite the entertaining way to kill time, given how Darek reacted to just about everything in halfway-sarcastic-turned-good humor in Leon's eyes. "Fair enough." Leon glanced up at Darek, when he said his piece about vampires. With a half-grin, Leon said, " I didn't know vampires actually killed people--I always thought they'd just turn you into another vampire." Leon kept flipping through his book as he spoke, still surprised he hadn't found a spell he didn't already know; this book must have been pretty basic stuff.

Darek chuckled, rolling his eyes. "No, you're not." He stated. If he really wanted to mess with Leon, it would be easy. Though he wasn't completely comfortable with the transformation, he was pretty sure he'd be able to slow it down, or concentrate on a certain part of his body. His teeth for example?
A slight frown formed on his face as he concentrated on his teeth. Running his tongue over them, he relaxed. He had fangs again. He smiled, purposefully revealing his now longated, pointed teeth. "Vampires kill a lot of people." He said simply. "They do almost everytime they feed." He added with a small shrug. He glanced sideways at the book Leon continued to flip through. Didn't he just tell Leon to put it away?

Leon seemed to have finally gotten the gist of Darek's words. He shut the book deliberately, slowly, and proceeded to look up at Darek, slipping the book behind his back. "Fair enough. You sure?" Leon retorted, with a half smile. Alex noted Darek's frown, trying to figure out what he was doing. When Darek flashed a grin and revealed his newly elongated canines, Leon grinned. "Don't suppose you could show me how to do that, mate? Besides, you're not a vampire. I saw you in the sunlight earlier today; I'd imagine you'd be dead, had you actually come into contact with the sun." Leon shifted a bit, trying to find a more comfortable position in his spot against the wall.

Darek smirked as Leon finally shut his book, sliding it behind him. "Positive." Darek sneered back, a small smile on his face. He shook his head as Leon asked how to do that to his teeth. "Told you I wasn't." He stated stubbornly. It wasn't that he didn't want to teach Leon, it was just something most people couldn't do. Even if he did manage to become an animagus, there was no promise larger canines would be in the mix.
"Sorry, mate. It's harder than just fangs the way I'm doing it." He reassured Leon. "I'm sure with your Ravenclaw brain, you'll figure out an alternative spell to get the same results." He added with a chuckle.
